When She Left
I brought you up-
  reminded you that women can
make their own names-
        that we are not home

Returning from Mexico
  declaring pieces we
  didn't want to share.
She kept her death from him
and he was called a lesser man
  for holding the chidren
  when she needed a
  rebirth-    a change for strength.

Lies were stories of the children
told twenty years ago and
it was all in good faith
The rafters point to where
I hung her picture
  our Mother for change.
